A 19‑year‑old woman was electrocuted to death while waiting for her boyfriend in a farm near Rewa at around 3 a.m., prompting police to file a case against the landowner.
A 19‑year‑old resident travelled to a farm on the outskirts of Rewa shortly after midnight to meet her boyfriend. At approximately 3 a.m., she stepped onto a section of the field where an electrified iron fence was running, and received a fatal electric shock.
Police reports indicate that the fence, meant for livestock containment, was live with current at the time of the incident. Investigators have registered a case against the farm’s owner for alleged negligence and are probing how the fence became energized.
The boyfriend, who was supposed to meet the victim, is also being questioned as part of the ongoing inquiry. Authorities have not released further details pending the completion of forensic and technical examinations.
