Union Home Minister Amit Shah has emphasized India's transition towards a technology-driven criminal justice system. He recently inaugurated four new applications developed by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
These new applications are designed to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics to bolster crime prevention efforts across the nation. The government's objective is to expedite the delivery of justice, with a stated aim of achieving this within three years.
The connectivity of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) has also been significantly expanded. Currently, CCTNS is linked to 17,840 police stations nationwide, facilitating a more integrated approach to crime data management.
