Alleged Unauthorized Cotton Procurement Centre in Jalahalli: Karnataka rakshana vedike Demands Inquiry
Devadurga: Allegations have surfaced that a cotton procurement centre is being operated in Jalahalli town of Devadurga taluk without an APMC licence or the necessary permission. The taluk and hobli units of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike have urged the authorities to conduct an immediate inquiry and take legal action if any violations are found.
In this regard, Karnataka rakshana vedike representatives submitted a memorandum to the APMC Secretary and the Devadurga Tahsildar.
Cotton is reportedly being purchased from farmers in Jalahalli, raising doubts among the public as to whether the concerned procurement centre has obtained the required licence from the APMC authorities. Karnataka rakshana vedike has urged officials to visit the spot and conduct a comprehensive inspection of the centre’s licence, records and transactions.
The Karnataka rakshana vedike Devadurga leaders further demanded that appropriate legal action be taken against those responsible if any violations of rules are found, and that steps be taken to ensure that farmers are not subjected to any injustice.
They warned that if the authorities fail to respond appropriately to their memorandum, a protest will be held in front of the concerned office.
KRV Taluk President Nandappa P. Maddi, General Secretary Gurunath Reddy M., and other office-bearers of the organisation were present while submitting the memorandum.
