The court noted that the detentions occurred after the petition was filed and that the police had failed to provide the CCTV footage from the station, a key piece of evidence that was missing.
In its remarks, the bench described the police conduct as “a bunch of liars” and expressed disappointment that the footage was not available, questioning why the full payment for the CCTV system had not yet been released.
The ruling also ordered the state to cover the legal costs of the petitioners and to ensure that the police station’s surveillance system is fully operational and compliant with court directives.
