Alirajpur women top alcohol consumption, Dindori men highest among men in MP survey

A recent health survey in Madhya Pradesh shows women in Alirajpur district and men in Dindori district have the highest alcohol consumption rates among the state’s districts.
The Madhya Pradesh State Health Department has released the results of its latest substance‑use survey, covering a range of districts across the state. The study examined patterns of alcohol and tobacco consumption among adult men and women.
According to the findings, women in Alirajpur district recorded the highest prevalence of alcohol use among all female respondents. In the male cohort, residents of Dindori district topped the list for alcohol consumption.
Health officials highlighted that these elevated rates raise concerns about chronic disease risk, domestic safety, and economic productivity in the affected regions. The department plans to intensify awareness campaigns and expand counseling services in Alirajpur and Dindori.
While the survey also noted that women in Mandla district lead in tobacco use, the primary focus of the report remains the alarming alcohol consumption trends in Alirajpur and Dindori, prompting calls for targeted intervention.
