Patna district officials said protests were permitted only at Gardanibag, but left‑wing student bodies started a rally from JP Circle, broke a barricade and moved towards Dakhbanga Chowk, disrupting traffic.
Earlier today, activists of the left‑wing student groups AISA and RYA began a demonstration in Patna, launching it from the JP Circle despite a district order that limited protests to Gardanibag.
The rally reached a police‑installed barricade near Dakhbanga Chowk, where protesters forced the barrier open and proceeded forward, causing a buildup of vehicles on the busy intersection.
District authorities reiterated that any further gatherings must remain within the authorized area, and police units were deployed to restore order and clear the congestion.
No injuries have been reported so far, and officials expect traffic to return to normal once the barricade is re‑secured.
