Asian Development Bank chief economist Park praised India’s ability to sustain growth despite a series of external and domestic shocks.
Asian Development Bank (ADB) chief economist Park told Moneycontrol that India has demonstrated remarkable resilience by maintaining steady economic performance amid a succession of global and domestic disturbances. He highlighted that the country’s growth trajectory remained positive despite challenges such as a worldwide slowdown, pandemic‑related disruptions, volatile commodity prices and geopolitical tensions.
Park noted that macro‑economic fundamentals – including a robust fiscal position, controlled inflation and a flexible monetary policy – have helped cushion the impact of these shocks. He added that India’s large domestic market and ongoing structural reforms continue to underpin its growth engine.
The ADB economist’s assessment comes as policymakers in New Delhi prepare for the upcoming fiscal year, with expectations that the economy will sustain a growth rate close to the current 7‑percent range. The comments were reported by Moneycontrol, reflecting optimism among international analysts about India’s economic outlook.
