Actor Mukesh Khanna has publicly denounced the excessive use of visual effects in the latest Ramayana trailer, calling it a departure from traditional storytelling.
The highly anticipated trailer for a new Ramayana series was released last week, featuring elaborate visual effects that have drawn mixed reactions from audiences.
Mukesh Khanna, the veteran actor best known for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the 1980s television serial, took to social media to express his concerns. He stated that the heavy reliance on VFX detracts from the authenticity of the epic’s narrative and may alienate viewers who expect a more grounded depiction.
Khanna’s comments come at a time when many productions are turning to advanced CGI to attract younger audiences. While some industry insiders see this as a necessary evolution, others echo Khanna’s sentiment that the essence of mythological stories should remain intact.
The production team has yet to respond to the criticism, but the debate highlights a broader conversation about balancing tradition and technology in Indian television. The trailer’s release has already sparked discussions on fan forums and social media platforms.
