The Indian finance ministry projects a 7.3% growth for the July-September quarter, signalling a robust rebound after a sluggish start to the year.
The finance ministry released a new estimate indicating that the Indian economy is likely to expand by 7.3% during the July‑September quarter.
The figure, based on preliminary data from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and the Reserve Bank of India, is higher than the 6.6% growth recorded in the first quarter of the year.
Officials said the uptick reflects a surge in domestic consumption, manufacturing output and services activity, supported by fiscal stimulus measures and accommodative monetary policy.
The ministry also cautioned that the estimate could be revised as more detailed data become available.
"The growth outlook remains positive," a ministry spokesperson said, adding that the economy is on a steady path to recovery.
