Forty‑nine Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan crossed the Attari‑Wagah border and arrived back in their country, officials said.

Amritsar, Punjab – Forty‑nine Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan were escorted across the Attari‑Wagah border on Monday and handed over to Pakistani authorities. The crossing, a key point for bilateral movement, facilitated the return of the devotees after their pilgrimage in India.

Border officials on both sides coordinated the transfer, ensuring that all documentation was in order before the group entered Pakistan. The pilgrims, who had visited Sikh shrines in the Indian state, were received by local authorities at the border before proceeding to their onward journey.

The event underscores the continued religious tourism between the neighboring countries, despite broader diplomatic sensitivities. No incidents were reported during the crossing, and the pilgrims were reported to be in good health.

The Punjab police confirmed that the movement was peaceful and that all standard protocols were followed. The return of the group is expected to encourage further pilgrimages in the future.
