The forest department in Madhya Pradesh has safely moved 378 deer from the Shajapur‑Sehore border to Kuno National Park using the Boma rescue technique.

The Krishna-Mrig rescue operation, launched in the border areas of Shajapur and Sehore districts, has so far transferred 378 deer to Kuno National Park. Forest officials said the animals were captured using the Boma method, a technique that involves encircling the herd with a temporary fence to guide them safely without injury.

The rescued deer are being monitored at Kuno, which is being prepared as a potential habitat for the reintroduction of the Indian rhinoceros. Authorities highlighted that the operation aims to reduce human‑wildlife conflict in the fringe villages and protect the dwindling deer population.

The department plans to continue the rescue drive in nearby forest patches, employing the same humane approach to ensure the safety of both wildlife and local communities.
