Police in Assam seized 30,000 Yaba tablets in Amingaon, with an estimated street value of Rs 7.5 crore.

The Assam police announced the seizure of 30,000 tablets of the synthetic stimulant Yaba during a raid in the industrial area of Amingaon. Officials said the haul is valued at roughly Rs 7.5 crore on the open market, marking one of the largest drug busts in the state this year.

The operation was carried out by a joint team of the state’s anti-narcotics cell and local law‑enforcement officers, who intercepted the shipment before it could be distributed to local dealers. The tablets were packed in multiple parcels and were slated for sale across the region, according to the police briefing.

Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the suspects involved, but they indicated that investigations are ongoing to trace the supply chain and any possible links to larger drug networks. The seizure underscores the continued focus of Assam’s law‑enforcement agencies on curbing the flow of Yaba, a drug that has been linked to rising addiction and violent crime in the northeast.

The state government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening anti‑drug measures, including increased surveillance at transport hubs and tighter coordination with central agencies. The confiscated tablets will be destroyed following standard protocol.
