A 2.6‑magnitude earthquake struck Ahmedabad early this morning, with the epicentre 29 kilometres from the city centre.
A 2.6‑magnitude tremor was registered by the Indian Meteorological Department early on Tuesday, around 4:30 a.m. Local residents reported a brief shaking that lasted a few seconds.
The seismic event was centered approximately 29 kilometres south of Ahmedabad, near the rural outskirts.
Preliminary reports from the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority indicate no casualties or structural damage.
Seismologists note that the quake falls within the range of minor seismic activity typical for the region.
The government has advised residents to remain alert but has not issued any evacuation orders.
