25,000 Police Personnel Deployed for Ganesh Immersion in Mumbai

Authorities have mobilised around 25,000 police personnel in Mumbai to manage the Ganesh immersion celebrations today.
Mumbai, Maharashtra – On the day of the annual Ganesh immersion, the city has deployed roughly 25,000 police personnel to oversee crowd control, traffic management and public safety. The massive deployment reflects the scale of the festivities, which attract thousands of devotees to the waterfront venues where the idols are submerged.
The force includes officers from the city police, the Maharashtra State Reserve Police, and specialized units trained for large public gatherings. Teams are positioned along major routes, at immersion sites such as Girgaum Chowpatty and Juhu Beach, and at entry points to the city to ensure smooth movement of devotees and prevent congestion.
In addition to the police presence, authorities have installed temporary barricades, medical aid stations and mobile command centers to respond quickly to any emergencies. Surveillance cameras are being used to monitor crowd density in real time, a practice also adopted in other cities like Hyderabad where thousands of CCTV units are active.
Officials said the deployment aims to maintain order while allowing worshippers to perform the ritual without incident. The police have urged participants to follow guidelines, avoid littering and cooperate with security personnel throughout the immersion process.
