Law enforcement in Madhya Pradesh rescued 21 turtles belonging to a protected species after an arrested gang member provided a crucial tip.
Madhya Pradesh authorities announced the successful rescue of twenty-one turtles that are listed under the country's protected wildlife schedule. The operation was initiated after an individual arrested in a separate gang investigation disclosed the location where the turtles were being held.
The rescued turtles were taken into the care of the state forest department, which will arrange for their rehabilitation and eventual release into suitable habitats. Officials emphasized that the prompt tip helped prevent potential illegal trade or harm to the endangered animals.
The incident highlights ongoing challenges in curbing wildlife trafficking networks and the importance of cooperation between law‑enforcement agencies and wildlife conservation bodies. The forest department has urged the public to report any suspicious activities involving protected species.
