Odisha’s Excise Department confiscated 195 kilograms of cannabis in Berhampur and detained three suspects during a large‑scale raid.
The Excise Department of Odisha reported that a coordinated operation in the coastal city of Berhampur resulted in the seizure of 195 kilograms of cannabis, commonly referred to as ganja. The haul was uncovered during a planned raid on a suspected drug storage site, marking one of the biggest drug busts in the region this year.
Law enforcement officials apprehended three individuals believed to be linked to the narcotics network. All three were taken into custody at the scene and are currently being interrogated by investigators to uncover the broader supply chain.
Authorities emphasized that the operation underscores the state’s intensified efforts to curb illegal drug trafficking under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
