Thirteen of the seventeen prisoners who fled a Tamil Nadu jail have been re‑apprehended after authorities employed drone surveillance to track them.
A group of seventeen inmates escaped from a prison in Tamil Nadu earlier this week, prompting a large‑scale manhunt by state police.
Using aerial drones equipped with high‑resolution cameras, law enforcement agencies were able to monitor remote areas and identify movement patterns consistent with the fugitives.
The surveillance operation led to the rearrest of thirteen escapees over the past two days, with police confirming that the drones provided real‑time visual intelligence that accelerated the capture process.
Officials said the remaining four escapees are still being pursued and that the successful use of drone technology will inform future security protocols in correctional facilities across the state.
