South Goa witnessed 12 fatal road crashes in the last month, while key safety improvements promised by authorities remain unimplemented. Officials cite procedural delays for the hold-up.

Over the past month, South Goa’s roads have seen a spike in fatal accidents, with official records showing twelve deaths resulting from crashes.

Despite the rise in casualties, several road safety measures that were approved earlier — such as installation of crash barriers, improved signage and speed‑calming devices — have not yet been put in place.

Local officials say the delay stems from administrative procedures and pending clearances, which have stalled the implementation of the safety plan.

Residents and commuters have expressed concern over the lack of action, urging the administration to expedite the pending works to prevent further loss of life.
