A court has sentenced 10 people to death for the 2013 Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh that nearly wiped out the state's Congress leadership. The attack, which took place in the Darbha valley of Bastar region, targeted a convoy of Congress leaders returning from a rally. Several senior leaders were killed in the ambush, including state Congress chief Nandkumar Patel and former Union minister Vidyacharan Shukla. The verdict comes after years of investigation and trial, marking one of the rare instances where a court has handed down the death penalty in a Maoist-related case.
