Youth in Sagar’s Kanti village grabs black cobra after drinking toxic liquor, hospitalized

A young man from Kanti village in Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh, seized a poisonous black cobra after consuming illicit liquor, was bitten several times and taken to hospital.
A resident of Kanti village in the Banda tehsil of Sagar district was found holding a black cobra after drinking locally brewed, poisonous liquor. The intoxicated youth approached the snake with his bare hands and managed to grip it despite its obvious danger.
The black cobra, known for its potent neurotoxic venom, bit the young man repeatedly on his hand as he tried to control it. Witnesses said the snake latched onto several spots before the victim released it.
Medical teams from the nearest health centre were alerted and rushed the victim to the district hospital, where he was admitted for anti‑venom treatment and observation. Doctors confirmed that the bites were from a venomous cobra and that prompt care was essential.
