Youth Drowns After Fleeing Assault in Balachak, Tarn Taran

A youth was found dead after he slipped into a pond in the village of Balachak, located in the city police jurisdiction of Tarn Taran, Punjab. Local authorities said the incident occurred when the young man, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, knocked on a door and was assaulted by the occupants. Fearing further violence, he fled the scene and ran away. While trying to escape, he lost his footing and fell into a nearby water body, where he drowned. Police have registered the case as a homicide and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the assault and the subsequent death.
