Sagar, Madhya Pradesh – On Monday, a youth entered the Sagar Collectorate and deliberately consumed a pesticide, prompting immediate medical intervention. The individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, told officials that he was driven to the act by persistent harassment and intimidation from a local money‑lender.
According to the police report, the accused money‑lender, along with two accomplices, is alleged to have been involved in illegal land acquisition schemes that threatened the youth's livelihood. The victim claimed that repeated threats left him with no other recourse, leading to the desperate act at the government office.
Medical teams rushed to the scene and provided emergency treatment, stabilising the victim before he was transferred to a nearby hospital for further care. The incident has sparked a local outcry, with residents demanding swift action against the alleged extortionists.
