On Tuesday evening, a disturbance erupted at the Bhila bus stand in Kapurthala when a group of youths forcibly pulled a 23‑year‑old passenger out of a moving bus. The victim was subsequently assaulted with wooden sticks (datar) and traditional kirpans, sustaining multiple blows.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers surrounded the man and continued the assault even after he was on the ground. The violent episode caused panic among commuters waiting at the stand.
