The actress disclosed that she was ready to quit acting and return to her hometown if her breakthrough film 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' had not performed well.
Yami Gautam, known for her roles in films such as "Vicky Donor" and "Sanam Re," recently opened up about a pivotal moment in her career. She said that before the 2019 war drama "Uri: The Surgical Strike" became a hit, she had contemplated walking away from acting and returning to her native Himachal Pradesh.
The actress explained that the commercial and critical success of "Uri" gave her the confidence to continue in the industry, turning a potential exit into a renewed commitment to her craft. She added that the film's performance not only revived her career but also reinforced her belief in choosing projects that resonate with audiences.
Gautam's candid remarks highlight the uncertainties many actors face in the volatile film business, where a single project can determine future opportunities. Her story underscores how a breakthrough role can alter professional trajectories, especially for talent emerging from smaller towns.
Since "Uri," Yami has appeared in several high‑profile projects, including the web series "Kaun Banegi Shikharwati" and the film "Bala." She continues to be a sought‑after presence in Bollywood, balancing commercial ventures with selective scripts.
The actress concluded that while she once considered leaving the industry, the success of "Uri" reaffirmed her passion for acting and her willingness to explore diverse roles moving forward.
