A World War II aircraft propeller has been repurposed as a bell for a church in Nagaland, India. The historic metal piece, once part of a wartime aircraft, now rings out during services in the remote region.

In a striking example of adaptive reuse, a propeller from a World War II aircraft has been installed as a bell in a church in Nagaland. The metal rotor, recovered from a wrecked plane, was cleaned and fitted with a clapper to produce a resonant tone during worship.

Local church officials say the propeller’s installation symbolizes resilience and remembrance. "It reminds us of the past and inspires hope for the future," a pastor remarked, though no official statement has been released.

The community has welcomed the unique bell, which has already begun to attract visitors from nearby villages. The bell’s distinctive sound is said to echo the distant roar of aircraft, adding a historic layer to the spiritual atmosphere.

Authorities have not yet issued a formal report on the propeller’s provenance, but preliminary investigations suggest it may have fallen from a U‑2 spy plane that crashed in the region during the 1950s.
