A 13‑month, ₹888 crore project in Sehore has launched the world’s largest transformer manufacturing unit, set to produce 365 high‑capacity units annually and create about 2,000 jobs.
Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, witnessed the commissioning of a new transformer manufacturing complex that is being billed as the largest of its kind worldwide. Built over a period of 13 months at an estimated cost of ₹888 crore, the facility is equipped to produce 365 high‑capacity transformers each year, each rated up to 1,200 kV.
The plant is expected to generate direct employment for roughly 2,000 workers, ranging from skilled engineers to assembly line staff, thereby boosting the local economy. Officials highlighted that the unit will also support India’s growing power‑infrastructure needs, reducing reliance on imports for high‑voltage equipment.
State and central authorities attended the inauguration, emphasizing the project’s role in advancing the Make in India agenda and strengthening the country’s manufacturing base. The plant’s output is slated to be supplied to national grid projects as well as export markets, positioning Sehore as a strategic hub for power equipment.
