World Sindh Council appeals to UNHRC over plans to split Sindh province

The World Sindh Council (WSC) has formally urged the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to address what it describes as a dangerous proposal to fragment the Sindh province of Pakistan. In a statement released to the media, the council highlighted that the plan could undermine the territorial integrity of Sindh and jeopardise the rights of its residents.
The proposed fragmentation, reportedly being discussed by certain political factions within Pakistan, aims to redraw administrative boundaries that would carve out parts of Sindh into separate entities. WSC officials argue that such a move lacks constitutional backing and could inflame ethnic tensions in the region.
WSC warned that the division would erode the cultural, linguistic, and political identity of the Sindhi people, potentially leading to discrimination and marginalisation. The council called on the UNHRC to examine the human‑rights implications and to issue a formal recommendation against any such restructuring.
The UNHRC has not yet responded, but the appeal adds international pressure on Pakistani authorities to reconsider the plan before it proceeds to any legislative or executive action.
