The American filmmaker Woody Allen is currently shooting scenes in Madrid, using locations and set designs approved by the city’s authorities to portray an idealised version of the capital.
Woody Allen, the veteran American director, has begun filming in Spain’s capital, Madrid, under a production plan coordinated with municipal officials. The shoot focuses on selected neighborhoods and landmarks that have been curated to reflect a polished, almost nostalgic image of the city.
Madrid’s local authorities have actively collaborated with the film crew, providing permits and facilitating access to iconic sites while ensuring the visual narrative aligns with the city’s promotional objectives. The cooperation aims to showcase Madrid as a vibrant, culturally rich destination, leveraging Allen’s international profile.
Industry observers note that the project marks one of the few recent high‑profile foreign productions to receive such direct endorsement from the city’s tourism board. While details of the storyline remain under wraps, the emphasis on an “idealised” portrayal suggests a strategic effort to boost Madrid’s global image through cinema.
