A woman discharged from a private hospital in Indore and sent back to Ujjain died at home on Wednesday; tests confirmed H1N1 infection, though health officials have not officially linked the death to swine flu.
A patient who had been admitted to a private hospital in Indore was discharged and returned to her hometown of Ujjain. On Wednesday, she was found dead at her residence. Laboratory results later confirmed the presence of the H1N1 virus in her system.
The hospital had treated her for respiratory symptoms before releasing her, and family members reported that she appeared to recover. However, the post‑mortem analysis revealed the H1N1 strain, commonly known as swine flu, as the infecting agent.
The Madhya Pradesh health department has acknowledged the laboratory finding but stopped short of declaring the death officially caused by swine flu, citing the need for a comprehensive medical review before attributing causality.
Health officials in the state have warned that seasonal spikes in influenza-like illnesses continue, urging residents to seek timely medical care and to follow preventive measures such as vaccination and hygiene practices.
