During a family dispute at Dharam Puri police station in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, Diipika Thakur doused herself with a flammable liquid and ignited, leading Sub‑Inspector Atul Joshi and two constables to suffer burns while trying to rescue her.

A heated family dispute brought Diipika Thakur to the Dharam Puri police station in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. While on the premises, she applied a flammable substance to herself and set herself on fire.

Sub‑Inspector Atul Joshi, along with two constables, rushed to the scene in an attempt to extinguish the flames and protect the woman. In the process, all three officers sustained burn injuries.

Medical teams were called promptly, and the injured officers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The woman was also rescued and is receiving medical care, while authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances that led to the self‑immolation.

The incident has raised concerns about the handling of domestic disputes at police stations and the safety protocols for officers responding to such emergencies.
