Wipro and Kawasaki have announced a joint investment of Rs 1,000 crore to set up a new pump manufacturing facility in Karnataka, which will generate about 1,200 jobs.

Wipro Ltd and Kawasaki Heavy Industries have entered into a partnership to establish a hydraulic pump manufacturing plant in the state of Karnataka. The joint venture will involve an outlay of roughly Rs 1,000 crore, marking a significant expansion of both companies' presence in India's industrial sector.

The new facility is expected to commence construction later this year, with production slated to begin within the next 18 months. It will focus on high‑efficiency hydraulic pumps used in sectors such as construction, agriculture and renewable energy.

According to the companies, the plant will create around 1,200 direct employment opportunities, with additional indirect jobs likely to arise in ancillary services and supply chains. The investment aligns with the Indian government's push for advanced manufacturing and job creation in tier‑2 and tier‑3 regions.

Both firms highlighted that the project will leverage Kawasaki's engineering expertise and Wipro's local market knowledge, aiming to deliver products that meet global quality standards while catering to domestic demand.
