On Saturday night, three unidentified attackers surrounded a husband and wife near the cremation ground in Chhoti Malia village, Gogri police‑station area of Khagaria district, Bihar. The assailants first assaulted the husband, Mohammad Arshad, beating him and seizing cash and valuables.
The wife, who rushed to his aid, was stabbed with a knife by the same men. She sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the nearest hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police have registered a criminal case and are searching for the three suspects. The incident has raised concerns about safety in rural Bihar, especially after dark.
