A 42-year-old advocate was shot dead in Whitefield, Bengaluru, following a violent confrontation with tenants over unpaid rent. Police are searching for the suspects who fled on motorcycles.

A violent dispute over unpaid rent turned fatal in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area late on Sunday night, resulting in the death of a local advocate. The victim, identified as B Manjunath, 42, was shot by one of his tenants during a confrontation.

According to preliminary reports, the incident stemmed from a long-standing issue where the tenants had failed to pay rent for three consecutive months. The situation escalated when Manjunath was found counting cash, at which point one of the tenants opened fire from behind, striking him in the head.

The accused fled the scene immediately after the shooting, splitting up and escaping on separate motorcycles. The rapid escape made it difficult for witnesses to provide immediate descriptions, but the police have launched a wide-ranging manhunt to track down the perpetrators.

Local law enforcement agencies have registered a case for murder and are combing through the area to gather evidence and CCTV footage. The incident has sparked shock in the Whitefield community, where legal professionals and residents are expressing concern over the rising tensions in landlord-tenant relationships.
