The West Bengal government has launched a dedicated web portal to register homestays, aiming to streamline approvals and promote tourism in the state.

Kolkata, West Bengal – The state government announced the launch of an online portal designed to register homestay properties across West Bengal. The platform, hosted by the Department of Tourism, provides a single-window system where owners can submit applications, upload required documents, and track the status of their registration.

Officials said the portal is part of a broader effort to formalise the growing homestay sector, improve safety standards, and attract more domestic and international tourists to lesser‑known destinations in the state. By digitising the process, the government expects faster approvals and better data collection on tourism accommodations.

The portal is accessible through the official West Bengal Tourism website and is open to all prospective homestay operators. Detailed guidelines, eligibility criteria, and a helpdesk contact are available on the site to assist users unfamiliar with the digital procedure.

The initiative aligns with the state's tourism development plan, which seeks to diversify visitor experiences beyond traditional hotels and promote community‑based tourism in rural and coastal areas.

Stakeholders are encouraged to register their properties before the upcoming peak travel season to benefit from early approval and promotional support from the tourism department.
