The West Bengal government has announced that it will recruit 150 judges to support the Special Investigation Report (SIR) process, following a directive issued by the Supreme Court.
The directive, issued earlier this year, urged states to fill judicial vacancies and improve the speed of case disposal. By bringing in 150 additional judges, West Bengal aims to reduce the backlog of SIR cases and ensure timely adjudication.
The recruitment will be carried out through a transparent selection process overseen by the state's Judicial Services Commission. The new judges will be assigned to various courts across the state to handle SIR cases and other pending matters.
