The West Bengal Special Task Force has arrested an alleged Jaish-e-Mohammed operative who plotted to target Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and sabotage a protest in Delhi.
The West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) arrested an alleged Jaish‑e‑Mohammed operative on Thursday, after intelligence indicated he was planning an attack on Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and a sabotage operation at a protest in Delhi.
According to the STF, the suspect, identified as Hamim Mondal, had devised a plan to disguise himself in a police uniform to carry out the attack and disrupt the demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
Investigators say Mondal maintained contact with handlers based in Pakistan through encrypted messaging applications, coordinating the plot from abroad.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities probing the full extent of the terror network involved in the scheme.
