West Bengal Shares India's Longest Border with Bangladesh

West Bengal is the Indian state that shares the longest frontier with Bangladesh, covering a stretch of about 1,569 kilometres. The border runs from the eastern tip of the Indian subcontinent, through the Sundarbans mangrove forests, to the western edge of the state. Numerous official crossing points, such as Petrapole–Benapole, facilitate trade and movement between the two countries. The extensive border has strategic importance for both security and economic cooperation, with regular patrols and joint initiatives to curb smuggling and promote cross-border trade.
