The West Bengal government has withdrawn the Banga Bibhushan award from BJP MP Ananta Maharaj after he made remarks about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

The West Bengal government has revoked the Banga Bibhushan award from BJP MP Ananta Maharaj after his remarks about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose were deemed disrespectful.

The award, which is the state's highest civilian honour, was conferred on Maharaj earlier this year for his contributions to the state.

In a statement, the West Bengal Home Department said the decision was taken after a review of the MP's comments, which were considered to be in conflict with the state's values.

Maharaj has not yet issued a response to the revocation, and the BJP has yet to comment.
