In the second phase of West Bengal elections, polling stations reported a 39.8% voter turnout by 11 AM, according to the Election Commission.
The Election Commission of India released early‑day figures for Phase 2 of the West Bengal assembly polls, showing that 39.8% of registered voters had cast their ballots by 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
The data comes from 1,500 polling stations across the state, where voters had begun casting votes at 7:30 a.m. The figure is slightly lower than the 41.2% turnout reported in Phase 1, which took place on the previous day.
Political analysts say the early turnout is a useful indicator of voter enthusiasm, but they caution that final results will depend on the remaining hours of voting, as well as the performance of major parties such as the Trinamool Congress, BJP, and the Left Front.
The Election Commission will publish the final turnout figures at the end of the day, after all polling stations have closed.
