Counting of votes for 28 legislative council seats is currently in progress across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra and Karnataka, as reported by DD News.
The Election Commission has started counting votes for a total of 28 seats in the legislative councils of four major states – Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra and Karnataka. These seats were contested in the recent staggered MLC elections, and the counting process is being carried out simultaneously in the respective state headquarters.
Legislative council members (MLCs) play a crucial role in state law‑making, and the outcome of these 28 seats will influence the balance of power in each council. Parties that secured these seats will strengthen their legislative presence, while others will assess their performance ahead of upcoming state assembly polls.
Officials have indicated that preliminary results are expected within the next few hours, after which the full list of winners will be declared publicly. All major political parties are closely monitoring the tally, awaiting the impact on their regional strategies.
