Visakhapatnam has secured the top spot in the YouthPOWER rankings published in the Andhra Pradesh handbook, reflecting its strong performance in youth development initiatives.
Visakhapatnam topped the YouthPOWER rankings released in the latest Andhra Pradesh handbook, a listing that evaluates cities on youth‑centric parameters such as education quality, skill development programs, and employment opportunities.
The YouthPOWER index, compiled by the state government in collaboration with youth NGOs, assesses municipal performance across indicators like school infrastructure, vocational training centres, entrepreneurship support and civic engagement of young residents.
City officials welcomed the ranking, noting that recent investments in digital classrooms, start‑up incubators and sports facilities have contributed to the improved score. They said the accolade will encourage further initiatives aimed at empowering the city’s large youth population.
Experts cautioned that maintaining the lead will require sustained funding and monitoring, especially as other districts intensify their own youth‑development strategies.
