Villagers in Parabirouli near Baitul protest as 2‑km road stays water‑logged for five years

Residents of Parabirouli village near Baitul have been urging authorities for five years to clear a two‑kilometre stretch of road and bridge that is constantly submerged under 2‑3 feet of water.
Parabirouli village, located about two kilometres from the town of Baitul in Madhya Pradesh, is grappling with a road and bridge that remain submerged under two to three feet of water after each rain. The water‑logged stretch stretches for roughly two kilometres, disrupting daily commutes and transport of goods.
For the past five years, villagers have repeatedly appealed to the district administration, filing petitions and travelling to the collectorate on five separate occasions. Their grievances centre on the inability to use the road and the added hardship of moving even a deceased body across the flooded section.
Despite these repeated pleas, no government officer has visited the site to assess the situation or initiate repairs. The locals say the lack of official attention has left them stranded, with emergency services and routine travel severely hampered.
The community continues to demand immediate intervention, urging the authorities to clear the water, repair the bridge and restore the road to functional condition.
