Veteran Darlong Leads Grassroots Revival in Meghalaya Football

Meghalaya's football community welcomed a fresh initiative announced by veteran football figure Darlong, who once played a pivotal role during the state's golden era of the sport. The programme focuses on building a structured grassroots network that will identify and nurture talent from remote villages and towns. Darlong said the effort will involve regular coaching clinics, partnerships with local schools, and the establishment of youth academies under the guidance of the Meghalaya Football Association. He emphasized that sustained investment in youth development is essential to restore the competitive edge that Meghalaya enjoyed in earlier decades.
