Police in Vadodara have detained an individual who had been practicing medicine for 15 years without a medical degree, following an investigation into fraudulent medical claims.
Police officers in Vadodara arrested a man on Thursday after a probe revealed that he had been offering medical treatment for 15 years without holding a valid medical degree.
The suspect, who had been operating under a false identity, was apprehended at a local clinic in the city. Authorities say he had treated patients for various ailments, including minor injuries and chronic conditions, while presenting himself as a qualified physician.
Vadodara Police Commissioner stated that the arrest follows a series of complaints from patients who later discovered the lack of proper credentials. The suspect is now being held on charges of practicing medicine without a license, a violation of the Indian Medical Council Act.
The police have seized medical equipment and documentation that were used to misrepresent the suspect’s qualifications. An investigation is underway to determine whether other patients were affected and to trace any potential accomplices.
