Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Uttarakhand will set up a state‑level marketing centre in Dehradun to promote products made by self‑help groups.
The Uttarakhand government disclosed plans to establish a dedicated marketing hub for self‑help group (SHG) products in the state capital, Dehradun. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami during a recent press briefing.
The centre is intended to act as a single point of aggregation, quality testing and market linkage for a wide range of goods produced by SHGs across the hills, ranging from handicrafts to processed food items. By centralising these functions, the government hopes to improve market access and fetch better prices for the producers.
Officials said the facility will be operational later this year, though exact timelines and funding details were not disclosed. The move aligns with Uttarakhand’s broader strategy to strengthen rural livelihoods and promote inclusive growth through organized marketing channels.
The initiative is expected to complement existing schemes that support SHG formation and capacity building, creating a more cohesive ecosystem for micro‑entrepreneurs in the state.
