Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Uttarakhand will launch a month‑long ‘Seva Sankalp’ campaign on September 17 to mobilise volunteers for community service across the state.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami revealed that the Uttarakhand government will commence a month‑long ‘Seva Sankalp’ (Service Commitment) campaign on September 17. The initiative is designed to encourage citizens, students and local organisations to participate in a range of community‑service activities, from cleaning public spaces to assisting senior citizens.

The campaign will run for thirty days, covering all districts of the state. Officials said volunteers will be coordinated through district‑level committees, and a dedicated portal will be set up for registration and task allocation.

Uttarakhand’s administration views ‘Seva Sankalp’ as a way to strengthen civic responsibility and complement ongoing development programmes. The government plans to showcase successful projects at the end of the month and consider extending the model if public response is strong.

No separate budget has been allocated; the scheme relies on existing resources and voluntary contributions. The CM urged people to join the effort, emphasizing that collective action can improve hygiene, disaster preparedness and social cohesion in the hilly state.

The launch will be marked by a short ceremony in Dehradun, where the CM will address the media and outline the first set of activities slated for the opening week.
