The Uttarakhand Mahotsav, a showcase of the state’s culture and crafts, will continue after Diwali and remain open to visitors until November 22, according to The Times of India.
The Uttarakhand Mahotsav, organised by the state’s tourism department, has been extended beyond the Diwali holidays and will stay open for the public until 22 November. The festival, which began earlier this month, is being hosted at several venues across the state, with the main hub in Dehradun.
Visitors can expect a vibrant mix of folk dances, traditional music, and exhibitions of local handicrafts such as wood carving, woolen shawls and metalwork. Food stalls will serve regional delicacies like bhang ki roti, chainsoo and a variety of tea blends.
The authorities have announced that entry to most events will be free, while some workshops may require a nominal fee. Daily timings run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and transport services have been increased to accommodate the expected surge in tourists.
By extending the Mahotsav, the state aims to boost post‑festival tourism and provide a platform for artisans to reach a wider audience, reinforcing Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage on the national stage.
