Uttarakhand Launches Har Ghar Jal to Achieve 100% Tap Water Coverage

The Uttarakhand government has unveiled the Har Ghar Jal initiative, a comprehensive plan to supply tap water to all households across the state. The scheme, launched by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, targets 100% coverage by March 2025, aligning with the national Swachh Bharat Mission’s water objectives. Funding will be sourced from state allocations and central grants, with a projected budget of ₹1.2 billion for infrastructure and distribution. The project will involve installing new pipelines, upgrading existing networks, and setting up community water kiosks in remote villages. Officials expect the initiative to improve public health, reduce reliance on bottled water, and support sustainable water management practices.
