The Uttarakhand government has placed the Kedarnath pilgrimage route on high alert after authorities identified a heightened risk of rockfalls near Chirbasa.

Uttarakhand’s disaster management officials have warned that the stretch of the Kedarnath highway near the village of Chirbasa is prone to sudden rockfalls. A technical assessment carried out earlier this week highlighted unstable slopes and recent tremors that could trigger landslides. The state’s Chief Minister’s office issued an advisory urging pilgrims and tourists to avoid the area until further notice. Local police and the National Disaster Response Force have been deployed to monitor the site and to clear any debris that may fall. Travelers are advised to use alternate routes and to stay updated through official channels.
