The Uttarakhand government has raised the monthly stipend for MBBS interns to Rs 25,000, aiming to improve training conditions and retain talent in state medical colleges.
The health department of Uttarakhand announced a revision of the stipend paid to MBBS interns, increasing it from the previous amount to Rs 25,000 per month. The decision, disclosed in a circular issued to all state medical colleges, is intended to align the remuneration with the rising cost of living and to motivate young doctors during their compulsory internship period.
Officials said the hike will be effective from the start of the next academic session and will apply uniformly across government‑run teaching hospitals in the state.
